Our team completed a website redesign of Hideaway Pools, a fibreglass swimming pool company up in the Sunshine Coast. As with all website redesigns our team complete, we started with a brainstorm on how we were going to design the layout and how it was going to improve upon the old.
We’ve found that using interactive elements, exploring sections that overlap with elements, parallax, background graphics, among others, can keep a view on the page longer as it grabs attention and sustains it for longer. We believe that a website should be fun to interact with and explore, not just a two dimensional construct that others have redone, over and over again.
On completion of the website, we decided to submit the project to Season 14 of the Web Excellence Awards to properly showcase our team’s skill and because we believe it belongs up there with the best.The Web Excellence Awards is widely recognised around the world for selecting the best the web has to offer with a range of set criteria and judging process. As these awards are independent of customer voting, and instead are judged by a panel of professionals, we highly value these awards for not being a pay to win type of award.
The criteria for the awarding is the ‘creativity, functionality, technical execution, innovation, implementation, strategy, and impact of the submitted projects’ [taken from Web Excellence Awards Website]. Even the judging process has not one but seven experts who are given the mission brief and the project to assess based on the previous standards.Hideaway Pools was selected as a winner for the Season 14 run of these awards, and we are very proud of our team for excelling in these awards and being showcased with the best of the web. We’re keen to continue improving upon our skills and to submit to more Web Excellence Awards in the future!
